Is that correct and is this 6dB increase typical? Now the filters are applied the peaks are gone so the volume needs to be increased and will be similar across all frequencies. This means that to achieve a certain volume across all frequencies the other frequencies end up too quiet. If I understand correctly, before the filters are applied there are nasty loud peaks at certain frequencies. Measured again and same result - even flatter response curve.ġ) Was I right adding the second set of filters to the first? Seemed to work, but I'm wondering if there's some reason that it shouldn't be done.Ģ) After setting up the filters, I set the sub level on my receiver using it's test tone and found I had to increase the gain by 6dB to achive the same SPL reading as before the filters were applied. It suggested another five which I programmed in to the BFD in addition to the original 4. Then I got REW to calculate some more filters based on the second already filtered measurement. The response curve was dramatically improved. REW calculated 4 filters so I set these on the BFD and measured again. I got REW working, calibrated the sound card and my trusty old Radio Shack SPL and did some measurements. If anyone wants to see them I'll post the graphs and filter settings tonight.

Obviously I had to play with it as soon as possible, so I waited until the wife & kids were asleep then stayed up until the early hours tinkering.īeing a bloke I only read the absolute bare minimum of the manuals and guides as was necessary and was getting really knackered towards the end, so excuse me if my query is answered elsewhere.
